if THE SURFACE is in good condition:-
"it will not require sanding".
1 - WASH and DRY THOROUGHLY.
2 - mask areas you do not want painted
3 - APPLY WAX AND GREASE REMOVER and WIPE OFF with a microfibre rag
4 - the surface is now ready to paint.
* IF THE SURFACE has sun damaged-peeling paint you will have to sand it back to a smooth surface and may need an electric or orbital sander * - available from Bunnings from $49.95.

MASKING TAPE - SEE MASKING SECTION
MASK ANYWHERE YOU DONT WANT TO PAINT.
REMOVE MASKING TAPE BY PULLING THE TAPE BACK ON ITSELF WHEN PRODUCT IS still wet.
OTHERWISE THE COATING CAN STICK TO THE TAPE AND LIFT OFF WHEN PEELING.
- BEING CAREFUL NOT TO LIFT THE COATING away with the tape
.
- IF THE COATING LIFTS OR TEARS IT MAY BE REACTIVATEd
BY PAINTING WITH A FINE PAINT BRUSH DIPPED IN LIQUID CDP FX
OVER THE TEAR AND brushed BACK INTO PLACE,
where it should dry to a smooth finish
.
-A SHARP BLADE CAN BE CAREFULLY USED TO SEPaRATE THE MASKING TAPE FROM THE COATING - BUT SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY.
it is not recommended to APPLY cdp- fx :-

DRYING TIMES
drying times will vary due to temperature.
you will be able to see when your coat has "flashed off"
- this means when the last of the solvent has finally evaporated and the coating no longer looks wet and is dry.
see masking section - as its best to remove the masking tape after all the coats are thoroughly dry which may take several hours depending on conditions.
the test is when the masking tape peels off without lifting the coating.
MASKING
MASK ALL AREAS YOU DO NOT WANT PAINTED
- INCLUDING THE GAPS IN BETWEEN THE DOORS, BONNET, BOOT LID, MIRRORS ETC.
- ANY FINE OVERSPRAY CAN BE REMOVED WITH OUR DIP REMOVER.
I SUGGEST YOU LEAVE A 5MM GAP BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE MASKING TAPE AND THE EDGE.
APPLY ONE SINGLE STRIP OF MASKING TAPE RIGHT TO THE EDGE AND OVERLAPPING YOUR EXISTING MASKING.
THIS ALLOWS YOU TO REMOVE THIS SINGLE STRIP OF TAPE ONCE THE CDP FX IS COMPLETELY DRY
- PULL THE MASKING TAPE BACK ON ITSELF IN A CUTTING TYPE MOTION
- BEING CAREFULL NOT TO LIFT THE COATING.
- IF THE COATING LIFTS OR TEARS IT MAY BE:- REACTIVATED / SOFTENED / LIQUIDFIED
BY PAINTING WITH A FINE PAINT BRUSH DIPPED IN LIQUID CDP FX OVER
THE TEAR AND PUSHED BACK INTO PLACE.

will occur as you spray.
dont worry as this will flatten out as the solvents evaporate and the coating settles.
this will take some time even overnight in some cases depending on weather conditions
AGAIN - FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS - WITH TWO LIGHT COATS TO START AND PROGRESS TO HEAVIER COATS.

WHEELS - spraying instructions - while on the car
Clean wheels thoroughly – making sure wheels are completely dry.
carefully Apply tyre shine to a rag or small brush wiping onto tyres only - not the rims.
Cdp-fx WILL NOT STICK TO SURFACES WITH TYRE SHINE APPLIED.
– make sure not to get any tyre shine on rims or brake rotors or calipers-tyres only.
-
APPLY WAX N GREASE REMOVER TO THE wheel SURFACE and wipe off TO REMOVE ANY WAX OR POLISH
For Mag or spoked wheels we recommend placing plastic bags in behind spokes to prevent overspray onto any brake components.
push the bags in and away from the wheel edges leaving a gap.- otherwise the vinyl coating will stick to the bags and the wheel.
the finished coating will peel from the wheel when removing the bags if there is no gap.
APPLY minimum 8 COATS OF CDP-FX
Make sure to remove these bags after the coating has dried.
After the coating has dried completely - peel excess Cdp-fx from your tyres.
A stiff nylon brush will assist removing cdp-fx from the outer edges of the tyre

COLOUR CHANGE recommended procedures
a successful COLOUR CHANGE WILL DEPEND ON:-
- the existing colour of your car
- the new colour you have chosen.
IN SOME CASES YOU MAY HAVE TO apply A different colour BASECOAT BEFORE you apply your chosen colour.
this is because some colours really "highlight" over a white or black basecoat.
white base coat
- will give a brighter finish for lighter colours
-such as Yellow, BRIGHT red, INTENSE BLUE AND GREEN
along with a variety of our Pearls and Pigments fx
Black BASE - can give a darker richer finish.
- EG - BORDEAUX over black will be a deep dark red.
- A BLACK BASECOAT IS ALSO BEST FOR most of our pearls and pigments fx - such as CHAMELEON-metallics holographics-alloys-some candies-pearls-etc
summary
all our colours can vary greatly depending on the colour of the basecoat-
Black
is the easiest to apply (could be matte or satin) and covers well over any base colour - it can be on your car for a period of time then have an alloy silver or chameleon or metallic red painted over it after a wash for a whole new look -without peeling the base coat - QUICK easy exciting colour change options for a whole different look.
White
also covers well- and really highlights a lot of our pearls and special fx.
white satin or matte also looks great
once you have any of our basecoats down for a period of time it is easy to spray over the top with our new colour formats
More details under the Colour section.

AFTER CARE
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE AFTER CARE.
WHILE CDP FX HAS UV PROTECTION THE SUN IS THE NATURAL ENEMY OF ANY WRAP
- KEEP UNDERCOVER WHEN POSSIBLE
- CLEANING REGULARLY
- NON WAX AFTER CARE PRODUCTS FOR MATTE AND SATIN.
- 303 VINYL PROTECTANT IS ONE YOU CAN BUY AT SUPERCHEAP
GENERAL ADVICE ON CARING FOR YOUR MATTE OR SATIN FINISH
AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE, THE LONGER A VEHICLE WITH MATTE OR SATIN PAINT GOES WITHOUT BEING WASHED THE MORE DIFFICULT IT CAN BE TO ACTUALLY GET CLEAN.
WHEN IMPURITIES BUILD UP INTO THE PAINT, IT WILL BE MUCH MORE CHALLENGING TO REMOVE THEM WITHOUT AFFECTING THE FINISH.
